Sellstrom, Advisory Board Member
Oren
Sellstrom has been a Staff Attorney at the Lawyers' Committee
since 1997. He coordinates LCCR's Legal Services Clinic; litigates
cases on LCCR's poverty and race dockets; and provides legal counsel
to community groups advocating for social justice. Representative
cases include Mercy Charities v. California Department of Housing
& Community Development (challenge to State's planned implementation
of regulations that would have unlawfully restricted immigrants'
access to affordable housing); Barlow v. Davis (challenge to Governor's
failure to collect information on participation of
minority- and women-owned businesses in State contracting); Doe
v.
Department of Health Services (challenge to State's planned termination
of prenatal care to certain categories of low-income immigrant
women). Mr.
Sellstrom also represents minority- and women-owned businesses
combating discrimination in public contracting. His work in this
area encompasses legislative and administrative advocacy as well
as litigation, and he is a frequent speaker on affirmative action
and public contracting.
