David Mermin

David Mermin is Senior Vice President of Lake Snell Perry & Associates (LSPA) and heads its California office. Established in 1995 by Celinda Lake, among the most respected public policy researchers in the country, LSPA is a public opinion research firm with nationally recognized expertise in understanding public perspectives on a variety of social issues. LSPA has advised hundreds of candidates for office at all levels of the electoral process, as well as a wide range of non-partisan organizations and foundations. LSPA is particularly well known for its research on the women's vote, health care issues, campaign finance, the environment, and the labor movement, and is a pollster for U.S. News and World Report. LSPA has offices in Washington, D.C. and Oakland, California.

Mermin has designed, conducted and analyzed public opinion research on a wide range of issues including campaign finance, labor issues, immigration, health care, economic development, and retirement security. His clients at LSPA have included the Center for National Policy, Service Employees International Union, Communications Workers of America, International Association of Fire Fighters, Stanford University Center for Biomedical Ethics, National Voting Rights Institute, and the Pew Charitable Trusts. He has advised dozens of candidates at all electoral levels, including Governor Janet Napolitano of Arizona, Governor Gary Locke of Washington and Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan. Mermin joined LSPA in 1996. Previously he worked at The Harwood Group, a non-partisan public issues research and consulting firm, and for the Health Care Financing Administration. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, he holds an M.A. in Geography with a concentration in political and urban geography from the University of Minnesota, and a B.A. in Political Science from Brown University.
